How It Works
Expressions is meant to be a way to decorate your Facebook profile though images that express who you are, what you're feeling and the things you like.
Expressions in 2007
Expressions launched in 2007 and was the first of it's kind. At that time Facebook profiles were very bland so we made it possible to add some flare! In 2007 it looked like image below. Things were great. Millions of people were applying our Expressions and expressing the things they love visually on their profiles.
Expressions in 2009
Facebook kept on changing over the years. First the Expressions application was pushed off the profile and to the Boxes tab.Then the boxes tab was removed and you could only access Expressions via the bookmarks tab. We were sad because this really made our application pointless. If the Expressions weren't on your profile for friends to see what was the point of them right?
Expressions in 2010
Facebook was taking away all our creative expression on profiles so in 2010 we introduced full page Facebook Layouts that you could apply like a wallpaper for profile. The down side of this was that only people that had the layouts browser plugin installed could see them when viewing Facebook profiles. We were still not 100% satisfied.
Expressions in 2011
Fast forward to 2011. Now with the introduction of the new Timeline profile we are pleased to announce the ability to apply Facebook Covers to your profile. We have taken the initiative to design some great looking custom covers for you profiles like the ones below. The great thing is there is no application install required and everyone that comes to your profile can see them! Expressions FTW! :)

Change seems to be inevitable on Facebook and now another one, a big one called Timeline, has been rolled out in New Zealand before making it worldwide.
