Facebook updated the layout of the site last week. We take a look at the changes and what we like and don’t like.
- Notifications have been moved around.
- Search is very prominent maybe because of Microsoft’s stake in Facebook
- Requests for new friends and events seem to be duplicated.
- The application toolbar has been removed and is now on the left side. The problem is it seems to be only on the homepage to use your bookmarks
- The Logout button was buried deep in the Account tab.
- If your using the chat you can see the people online on the left sidebar as well.
- Facebook is becoming a major player in the search industry and is getting comparative search volume to google.
So what do you think about the new Facebook Layouts? What do you like and what do you NOT like?
Please leave your opinion in the comments below and I will try to do a video response to your comments.

Thanks for sharing. Like you said there are some things I like and some I don’t about it. That logout button being hidden was a bugger for me. Honestly I wish Facebook would stop making changes but I realize they do care about their users and are just trying to continually improve things.
i like the new layout. Changed is good. it just will take some getting used to of, but i enjoy. thank you for the great work. tinicka
I DO NOT LIKE THE NEW FACEBOOK AT ALL. VERY HARD TO COMMUNICATE LIKE WE ONCE COULD. DO NOT LIKE
No, I hate it idk how to do aything on it!
no i don’t
I can’t find “Pages” where did they put it. I can still find it on my iphone but not in the new layout for Facebook. Help?
Barbara: When you say “like we once could” are you referring to the days before the “boxes” tab came along or just the most recent layout prior to this new change? And can you elaborate on what you mean by communicate? You mean instant chat or an email to their inbox or to find your friends etc? Just trying to understand what makes it hard for you.
Carissa: Ask some specific questions and I can help you out with how to do things on it.
Nancy: Well for me I can access the Pages by doing this. From the homepage on the Left side menu you see Applications. Click the More link and you will see Ads and Pages. Let me know if this works for you. Otherwise I can do a short video on it.
Jenni: You are right about facebook caring for their users. You should see how strict they are for advertisers wanting to put up an ad. The really want to keep their users happy, more so then any other site I have seen. Glad you finally found the logout button. I should have had my butt in gear and have done this video the day I seen it come out and maybe I could have saved you some struggles and headaches.

It’s okay though for me, change is good so i guess it’s just fine. Just need to adjust. But i hope they could warn users of change that will take part so there is no confusion. That’s all
Abby you make a good point there maybe they should warn people that a new change is coming. I know they do test it thoroughly with batches of people inhouse before releasing it public. I think a quick heads up would be a nice gesture though you are right.
I wish that emoticons worked elsewhere other than just chat. I like the little smiley faces. Other than having to get used to it, nothing about the change bothers me too much. I would like to be able to access my Pages and Groups from the left side on the home page and I’ve always wanted a tab in the Notes that would italicize and bold the text without having to type the secret codes. I’m a used PC, by the way. (Can’t afford a Mac, and I like to tinker)
The new facebook layout is okay. The first day I used it, I was sooooo confused but now I am getting slightly used to it. But I hope that they alert us earlier for the next design so I can be prepared.
love it!
love it want to see alot more designs.every one is waiting to pimp there profile
i guess i havent really tried it yet
yes i like it but i need help giting it up
