Are You Missing Your Friends Important Facebook Status Updates

One of the primary things you can use Facebook for is keeping up with what your friends are doing. The best way to accomplish this is by looking at their Facebook Status updates.

Jeff, Mary, and Joe are all friends on Facebook, living in different countries, in different time zones. In order for them to stay updated with each other they would have to either go to each others Facebook Profiles or monitor their homepage feed constantly. If they each have 200+ Facebook Friends (which is the norm) and they don’t login each day this can become a pain, quickly.

This is no longer a problem, as of last week Facebook has added the ability to view your friends updates based on the Friend Lists you setup. This will save Jeff, Mary, Joe and YOU a lot of time and allow you to stay even more connected with your friends.

Step #1 - Facebook Friend List Creation
In order to create a Friend List you need to click on Friends in the main Facebook menu. Next on the left side you will see Friend Lists. (yours might be empty) Click on the button Make a New List and name it something that is easily distinguishable by you.

Step #2 - Assigning Friends to a List
On the left side of the page click on the new Friend List you created. Now in the middle of the page you will see Add to List and a textfield where you can start typing a friend’s name. Do as it says and begin to type the name of a friend that you would like to add to your list or click on Select Multiple Friends to see a listing of all your friends. Be sure to save your list if using the Multiple Selector. If using the single friend adder your list will be saved after each friend you add.

Step #3 - Viewing Updates for a List
Click on the Home Facebook Menu option. Now on the left side of the page you will potentially see News Feed as well as your newly created list. If you do not see your list click on the More (arrow pointing down) button. Click on your list and now you can quickly and easily see all the Facebook Status updates from the members of that list!

   I had already been using this feature for my friends. There are friends that would benefit from my San Diego emails, but not everyone.

   With the new Facebook layout I was pleasantly surprised that I could now see my friends list stream.
