Mafia Wars on Facebook

A week ago, I (finally!) got a Facebook account. I was still in the process of exploring the so called ‘it’ thing, when my friends kept bugging me– again!– to add an application called Mafia Wars. With all the energy I could muster, I declined. Mainly because I was still getting the hang of using Facebook. It was not until Jason, a Facebook friend (and the hottest guy in our class), asked me if I know how to play Mafia Wars on Facebook and that if I would be interested in joining his family, did I add the application– pronto! (I would be crazy to pass up the ‘once-in-a-lifetime’ chance to interact with Jason!)

I then called Jenna, a certified Mafia Wars fanatic, for some pointers.

‘How do we play Mafia Wars on Facebook, Jen?’ I inquired.

‘Mafia Wars is like any RPG game’, Jenna explained to me.

According to Jenna, the following are some pointers in playing Mafia Wars on Facebook:

• First and foremost, get a Facebook account and add the application. You’ll be given $3000 cash, good health and energy but no experience whatsoever. You start off as a petty thief and then work your way up to the top of the crime chain.

• Keep leveling up by gaining experience points. If levels are increased, new jobs are opened and new properties as well as inventory items are made accessible. But before jumping on every job available, remember that jobs cost you energy too. Though you get cash and experience from jobs, having more energy (at least 2004-400) later in the game is an advantage because you will be harder to kill, thus, giving you more EXP and quickly advancing your level.

If you are interested in growing your mafia at lightning speed and beating up on your weaker enemies … then THIS IS THE MOST EXCITING LINK YOU WILL EVER CLICK.

• Pick your character. You get to choose whether you’ll be a money mogul or a mafia member of the action type. You could also purchase property to accumulate cash needed to buy weapons, and thus, keep your mafia operation running. Always buy properties in blocks of 10 because after the 10th block, the price for each succeeding block increases. When you’ve built up on wealth (and this happens at a rapid pace), concentrate on buying larger properties that promises more income. Even when not logged in to the game, income mounts up hourly. This is an edge to keep the entire family ready for fighting.

• Doing jobs adds experience points that help advance rank quickly. Thus, if you want to move up the crime chain fast, do jobs with most experience points.

• Attacking/Fighting other players is another way to move up. Never add people in the hit list in the later part of the game, as this will only increase their EXP and makes them harder to kill. People with low amounts of money or those with higher ranks on the hit list should not be attacked, unless you want to make them stronger. If someone is annoying you and is attacking you all the time, get your crew to punch him in the face. 1 or 2 points off from each punch is a big deal especially if that guy gets no experience or money out of annoying you.

• Grow the family. This is easily done by inviting friends (application readily identifies your Facebook friends who are already playing Mafia Wars), peeking through Facebook pages geared towards growing families and joining the network action. The family should grow to continue doing jobs and gain more strength in fights.

• Keep an eye out for upgrades. Every player can develop their own process of upgrading. Attack, Strength, Defense Strength, Maximum Energy, Maximum Health and Stamina are a few attributes that can be upgraded. Whether you upgrade alternately or focus on one or two attributes, always base your decision on strategy. Attack, defense, stamina and health are necessary for fighting while energy is needed for doing jobs.

Whether or not you’re a newbie in Mafia wars, there is no step-by-step nor right or wrong way of playing this game on Facebook. The things to remember are:

• One, have fun in fighting bad guys, looking after your family, buying guns and artillery, looting property– just basically enjoy doing the stuff you can’t do in the real world;

• and two, have as much free time as possible because in no time, you’ll be glued to it—just like the almost two million people in the world who already are addicted to mafia wars on Facebook.

Imagine being able to start at the first level again with 500 mafia members. You’d almost never lose a fight or be robbed!. Wouldn’t that be great? LEARN HOW HERE.

So… will you join 9.3 million others and play Mafia Wars on Facebook? If you do play already let’s share some great stories.

    I don’t get this “Never add people in the hit list in the later part of the game, as this will only increase their EXP and makes them harder to kill.” If you’re on the hitlist, you’re killed pretty quick - how does that make YOU harder to kill?
